If “drink more water” is on your new year resolutions list, read on as we’ve wrapped up all the benefits of drinking more water in our blog. We’ll also share some top tips to make your water drinking goals in the office even easier.
It’s important for our overall health that we stay hydrated. Our bodies are made up of over 70% water and our brains are made up of around 85% water. Hydration plays a vital part in enabling our bodies to function effectively. Symptoms of dehydration range from problems concentrating, fatigue, headaches and if severe enough, can cause serious health complications. Ensuring that your office team has access to refreshing filtered cold, hot, still or sparkling water straight from the tap can support your team’s health.
Make it easy
If you’re the office or facilities manager, choose convenient water points in the office so your team can quickly and easily rehydrate. The best option for offices is under-counter taps which come in a range of sleek and stylish designs to complement your office decor.
Provide water bottles
Branded water bottles are a great gift for employees and can support your workplace culture by showing you care. There are loads of options out there but the ones with markers on them are best so people know how much they’ve drunk during the day. People should be aiming for between 1.5 and 2 litres daily. And remember, other drinks like coffee, tea and soft drinks also count towards this intake.
Liven things up
Ok, so not everyone enjoys just plain tap water so people should have the option to choose sparkling water as well. Carbonation is also thought to enhance digestion by improving swallowing ability and reducing constipation. Read more about why you need a sparkling water tap over in our blog.
A nice idea is to add fruit to your water. Raid the office fruit bowl and you can add slices of orange, grapefruit, lemon or add more flavour with cucumber, ginger or mint. Plenty of fruits and vegetables have remarkably high water content. Cucumber contains 97% water for example and on average our food will contribute about 20% of our overall fluid intake.
