Let us show you how to change out your CO2 cylinder and refill the gas in your sparkling water machine. It can be an intimidating process at first, but just follow these instructions and tips to ensure you are changing your CO2 gas cylinder safely.
Before you begin
Check the label on your new CO₂ cylinder to make sure it’s the correct type.
Make sure the unit is turned off and you’re in a well-ventilated area.
1: Remove the empty cylinder
Turn off the regulator by rotating the knob anti-clockwise (to the left) by hand.
Hold the regulator by its metal shaft with one hand, and the cylinder with the other.
Unscrew the cylinder by turning it clockwise (to the right).
You might hear a brief hiss of gas, don’t worry, that’s completely normal and will stop as the regulator disconnects.
2: Fit the new cylinder
Remove the plastic cap from the top of the new cylinder.
Screw on the regulator by hand, turning clockwise. There will be a hissing sound as it connects, which will stop once properly connected.
Be careful not to over-tighten.
Tip: It can help to hold the regulator and rotate the cylinder anticlockwise, as it is easier to get purchase on it.
3: Set the pressure
Use the regulator knob to adjust the CO₂ pressure. The knob turns clockwise to increase the pressure
We recommend a pressure setting between 3.5 and 5 bars, depending on how fizzy you like your water.
Do not exceed 5 bars.
After the process, dispose of the empty cylinders according to local recycling guidelines. Be mindful that your building might have specific guidelines for disposing of pressurised containers, check with your facilities team if you are unsure.
